The advancement of technology has changed the way in which mathematics is taught today. Every day, we use simple and more advanced graphing calculators; we use computer programs and smart boards to explain mathematical concepts. We offer online math courses to reach a broad range of students. Technology can help in delivering mathematics, but if technology is not used appropriately the mathematical concept can be lost, and it can create confusion and frustration among learners. In this paper we discuss pros and cons of using technology in math classes. We also present methods and techniques that can be used in delivering online math courses. We hope that the paper will encourage others to carefully use technology in mathematics and give ideas on how to create online math courses despite the limitations of cost efficient technology available to students.

Sandra Fital-Akelbek is an Assistant Professor at Weber State University. She received her Ph.D. in mathematics from University of Regina in Canada. For several years she has been involved in mathematic education and distance education. As a graduate student, she was involved in designing a course-Calculus I for distance students and she co-author a textbook for this course. Currently, Dr. Sandra Fital-Akelbek offers online math courses which are very useful and popular among students.
