** Award Winner Announcement **
Congratulations to Dr Yasmin Ibrahim, the winner of the International Award for Excellence in the area of Technology, Knowledge and Society.

Paper abstract: Mobility and the convergence of technologies have enabled the wired body to be celebrated as a site for private consumption of music, media and simulated realities. The trends towards personalisation of mobile technologies is implicating the individual body as a collaborator in the creation of media events where the personal gaze of the consumer is contributing to the visual narratives of global and local events. This co-optation of the mediated mobile body as part of the media gaze has initiated new media rituals in constructing event-driven news. This paper examines the personal gaze in the political economy of events construction and the notion of post-surveillance society where mobile bodies become new sites for personal and collective technological gaze into society on an everyday basis.

Dr Ibrahim's paper, The Wired Body and Event Construction: Mobile Technologies and the Technological Gaze, may be accessed in the online bookstore: http://ijt.cgpublisher.com/product/pub.42/prod.457.
